A/W 17 collection
Set in a material environment of re-appropriated functional buildings of former socialist Berlin and with a loving nod to their inhabitants, G O E T Z E injected some new into their A/W 17 wardrobe. The office worker’s proper blue shirt and the buttoned track pants of the cool kids from the block both found their way into this collection. The colours represent both architecture and interior of this scenario with warm shades of beige and brown being placed in hard contrast to cement and stone grey, even being combined in a range of two-tone items. G O E T Z E continues to execute the collection ideas in a range of high quality and luxurious fabrics from cashmere blends to double-face faux-shearling and sportive tech-materials.

G O E T Z E keeps a strong focus on complex shirting making it the label’s key items, this time introducing a new over-sized fit to the range of intricate fitted dress shirts. The collection also aims to interrupt the spectator’s gaze by shifting familiar detail lines; visually merging the upper part of a coat with its pocket flaps, moving the pocket openings to interfere with other structural lines of the garment or scaling up pocket flaps to challenge the visual balance of a design. Faux layering keeps being a motive and the utilitarian west J.B. is integrated in a range of outerwear garments adding a new complex look to the label’s understated aesthetic. Keeping an overall classic approach to menswear G O E T Z E introduces a more playful aesthetic this season by including the various detail development and new structural elements into its existing wardrobe.
