United to end violence against women

At cosnova, we have been committed to the mission "Make everyone feel more beautiful" for over 20 years. But before we can feel beautiful, we have to fulfil basic human needs such as safety and physical integrity. We want to take a stand against violence against women, raise awareness and help women in need financially. That’s why cosnova is once again donating €100,000 to the Union of German Zonta Clubs. The money will go to a fund that allows affected women to stay in women’s shelters. €20,000 goes into violence prevention projects of the Union of German Zonta Clubs.
One in three women in Germany is affected by violence at least once in their life. That’s more than 12 million women. Every hour, more than 5 women or girls are killed by someone in their family. Less than 40% of victims seek any kind help.*
Every 4 minutes, a woman experiences partnership violence in Germany. In 2022, 157,818 people were affected by partnership violence, with women as victims in 80% of the cases.**
In 2021, 6,431 women and 7,572 children found refuge in one of the 380 women’s shelters in Germany. It costs up to €100 per person per day to stay in a women’s shelter. Women who do not receive social benefits, such as students, asylum seekers, self-employed and working women, have to pay the costs themselves.***

Inspired by the UN Women \Orange the World\\
campaign, which has been taking a stand against violence against women since 1991, cosnova is also making orange the colour of “cosnova says NO – united to end violence against women”. The cosnova donation results from the sale of orange nail polishes in the standard range of essence and Catrice .
“It is very important for me to be involved in this initiative because violence against women needs to be talked about more. All too often, violence against women still goes unnoticed. I would like to see more help for women to overcome their shame and to be encouraged to talk openly about it.”
“Domestic violence is not a private matter, it concerns each and every one of us. Everyone can do their part in putting an end to it. We should start with the little ones. Prevention is the key to ensuring that violence no longer occurs We have to make sure that boys do not grow up to be potential perpetrators and girls do not become potential victims.”
